As part of concerted efforts of combating human trafficking, the Nigerian Women Association Verona,Lagos Chapter in collaboration with Child’s Protection Network,Kosofe LGA have launched INsigHT during the commemoration of World Trafficking Day recently held at the Kosofe Local Government Area,Lagos.

The INsighHT initiative which was said to build capacity was to deal with Human Trafficking on Transit Routes in Nigeria,Italy and Sweden.

According to the Chairperson of NWAV/INsigHT Action,Lagos Chapter,Mrs Blessing Nwadineke disclosed in her address that the programme was to tackle human trafficking with its evolving dynamics trends and forms so as to repatriate,counsel, empower and reintegrate Nigerian returnees from Italy.

She therefore tasked all forms of government and all the participants to be proactive and ensure consistent enlightenment of their neighbours against human trafficking.

Nwadineke charged parents,guardians and all stakeholders that “it is high time we gave time for the care of their children and be vigilant against any intruders”
In his own address,the Co-ordinator Child’s Protection Network,Kosofe LGA, Alhaji Comrade Rasheed Awofeso disclosed that human trafficking is an anti-social and evil which is being influenced by poverty, unemployment and illeteracy in Nigeria.

He called for good and enduring legislation and stiffer penality on any offenders

“Our over 150 porous border in Nigeria too are not being manned effectively enough.It is indeed loopholes to perpetuate the anti-social act”he said

Awofeso,who is the CEO,Child and Community Response Initiative(CCRI) commended and appreciated the Local Government Area ,community leaders,law enforcement agencies,resource persons,journalists and all national and international sponsors for the success of the programme.
